AI companion technology
CYM Assistive Labs builds AI-powered companion devices and adaptive tools that support independent living while giving family members useful updates when something may need their attention.
Get in touch →A companion device that provides gentle reminders, observes everyday patterns, and keeps family members informed without interrupting daily life.
The problem
Many families rely on phone calls to make sure everything is okay, but calls can be missed or become difficult to maintain every day. Other systems focus on emergencies or cameras, which may not address the need for everyday reassurance while respecting privacy.
| Approach | Works without being worn | No cameras | Reaches out proactively | Keeps family informed daily |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Medical alert pendant | No | Yes | No | No |
| Camera monitoring | Yes | No | No | Yes |
| Daily phone check-in | Yes | Yes | No | Depends on memory |

What we build
Medication reminders, appointment reminders, and daily routine prompts delivered by voice and designed to fit naturally into the person's day.
Ambient sensing looks for changes in familiar patterns, such as a missed routine or an unusual period of inactivity, and can notify designated family members when a change may need attention.
A simple, private dashboard that lets family members see relevant updates without requiring constant calls or unnecessary monitoring.
Physical aids such as grips and openers, designed and prototyped in-house for everyday problems that standard products may not address well.
No cameras in private spaces and no need for constant surveillance. CYM focuses on selected signals and routine patterns while keeping the information private by design.
The goal is a simple setup: place the device where it is needed, connect it, and let it begin learning normal routines over time.
How it works
01
Place the device on a nightstand, kitchen counter, or another suitable location. The design is intended to avoid complicated installation or wiring.
02
Over the first week, the system establishes a baseline from typical patterns such as meals, medication routines, sleep, and activity.
03
Routine updates appear on the family dashboard, while alerts are intended for situations that may require someone to check in or take action.
We built CYM around a simple idea: people should be able to live independently while their families have a practical way to stay informed when it matters.

For families
You shouldn't have to make a phone call every day just to feel reassured. CYM is designed to stay quiet when routines are normal and provide useful updates when something may need your attention.
Common questions
No. CYM is designed to use motion, sound, and routine-pattern sensing rather than video. This allows it to look for changes in activity without recording video of the room.
No. Unlike a medical alert pendant, the core CYM device is designed to stay in a fixed location in the home and work in the background, so there is no wearable device to remember each morning.
Only people authorized by the account owner can access the dashboard. It is designed to show relevant routine summaries and alerts rather than raw audio, video, or detailed location information.
Designated family members receive an alert describing what the system detected and the relevant location, so they can decide whether to call, check in, or seek additional help.
