Much of the technology available for older adults focuses on emergencies after something has gone wrong, while camera-based systems can raise privacy concerns. Neither approach fully addresses the everyday need to know that someone you love is doing okay without constantly checking on them or compromising their privacy.
We started CYM to build a different kind of technology: tools that stay in the background during everyday life, keep families informed without relying on constant surveillance, and adapt to existing routines instead of forcing people to change them.
That same approach extends beyond independent living. CYM HomeGuard applies quiet monitoring to homes that may be empty for weeks or months, helping families stay aware of problems even when no one is there to check in.
We built CYM around a simple idea: people should be able to maintain their independence without leaving their families completely in the dark. Our goal is to use technology to provide useful information while respecting privacy and dignity.
